24-Hour Emergency Service

Emergency Pet Care Services in Corvallis

At Willamette Veterinary Hospital in Corvallis, we provide 24/7 emergency and urgent care to pets throughout the Willamette Valley—no matter who your regular veterinarian is.

If able, please call us at 541-753-2223 so we can prepare for your arrival.

Our hospital is always open—24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year—and is staffed with veterinarians who specialize in emergency medicine and critical care. We’re equipped with advanced diagnostic tools, an intensive care unit, and the ability to perform blood transfusions using our in-house supply of plasma, synthetic blood products, and blood units.

Just like a human ER, we triage patients based on the severity of their condition. This means the most critical cases are treated first to ensure every pet gets the care they need, when they need it.

What To Do in an Emergency

If your pet is experiencing an emergency, please come in immediately, and call us if possible, at 541-753-2223. This helps us prepare for your arrival and give your pet the fastest, most appropriate care.

Once you arrive:

  • Your pet will be assessed by a veterinarian to determine the severity and necessary treatment.
  • We’ll provide a recommended treatment plan and cost estimate.
  • When an estimate is presented, a deposit of the low end is required, with the balance due at discharge.
  • We will share your pet’s medical records, test results, and treatments with your regular veterinarian to ensure continuity of care.

When to Seek Immediate Emergency Care

If your pet is showing any of the following signs, seek emergency care immediately:

  • Trauma (e.g., hit by a car, animal attack, or fall)
  • Difficulty breathing or choking
  • Bloated or swollen abdomen (especially if hard or painful)
  • Seizures (repeated or lasting more than a few minutes)
  • Loss of consciousness or unresponsiveness
  • Paralysis or inability to stand/walk
  • Difficulty giving birth
  • Excessive or uncontrolled bleeding
  • Weak or rapid pulse

When to Seek Urgent (Same-Day) Care

These conditions may not be immediately life-threatening, but they still require prompt attention:

  • Vomiting or diarrhea (especially if persistent or with blood)
  • Fever or noticeable lethargy
  • Hives, skin allergies, or swelling
  • Ear infections or discharge
  • Coughing or sneezing that worsens
  • Minor wounds or abscesses
  • Superficial cuts or scrapes
  • Sudden limping or discomfort

We’re here when you need us—day or night.
