Margot joined the Wilvet family in March 2019 as a CVT working at the Oregon Coast Aquarium.
She graduated from Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology as a Certified Veterinary Technician and has a BA in Geography and Resource Management.. She is originally from Florida but has spent most of her life in the western U.S. as well as many years sailing to foreign countries. During the past 10 years in Portland, Margot completed internships at the Oregon Zoo along with working as a technician and coordinator in a small animal practice and then as a technician at an avian and exotic practice. After completing an internship at The Marine Mammal Center in California where she gaining valuable experience doing rescue and rehabilitation, her love for marine mammals was solidified. In addition, she is interested in aquarium and seabird medicine.
In May, she and her husband moved to the Lincoln City area and they are thrilled to be out of the city and on the coast. In her free time she enjoys exploring her new surroundings; hiking, walking on the beach, making new friends, volunteering for the marine mammal stranding network, and the whale entanglement response team.
Past pets include cats, goldfish, and a Moluccan cockatoo. Currently, she and her husband are without pets and hope to find a canine friend in the near future.
Margot is honored to join the Wilvet and Oregon Coast Aquarium teams. She also hopes to spend time at Wilvet practicing and getting to know more of the team.
